Virginia Elite Volleyball Club

As a club we have spent a considerable amount of time identifying and defining our core values.  This was an extremely purposeful exercise because this allowed me and this organization to share a common language in describing who we are.  It is also a reminder that we are so much more than just a volleyball club - that we are, in fact, a community with a common goal to prepare young women for the experiences of life, and that it truly takes a village.

So, as a reminder, ELITE stands for:

EXCELLENCE – A cornerstone of our values.  We use words like: Passion, Pride, and Commitment to describe what Excellence really means at our club.

LEADERSHIP – A major ingredient in the Elite experience, with words like: Character, Authenticity and Purpose.

INITIATIVE – You can’t build a community without initiative, and as described by: Enthusiasm, Drive and Confidence.

TEAMWORK – Volleyball maybe the best sport to showcase: Respect, Trust and Support.

ENJOYMENT – Why do anything that is not fun, because we all have to have: Celebration, Innovation and Laughter.

As a celebration of our core values, VA Elite recognizes the athletes and coaches that best exemplify our values through their performance and actions as demonstrated throughout the season.  The entire club is brought together at the end of the season to recognize and acknowledge some really amazing young women and coaches. 

Each coach is asked to reflect upon the season and select and nominate various team members that best reflects the core values of the club.  The nomination included key attributes and character traits that the player demonstrated throughout the season.  The leadership committee then selects the top two candidates overall, and then the board selects the final winner.  (This process was followed, as well, for the selection of the Elite coaches, with the exception of the technical director submitting the coaches’ nominations to the leadership committee.) 

We’re so very proud of ALL of the girls in the Elite family.  Every single one of them has exhibited ELITE core values during the season, and we hope you will carry them with you throughout your lives.
