16s Finish 3rd at City of Oaks

The entire club headed down to Raleigh, NC to kick off our first travel tournament of the season! Our 16s team started off hot and stayed on fire going 7-1 during the three-day tournament and finishing tied for 3rd overall!
On day 1 our 16s team played tough opponents in their pool, facing off against MVP 16-Gold, TCVA 16s and NRV 16. Our 16s went undefeated in pool play for the day and finished 1st headed into day 2. Their 2nd day pool brought even tougher competition in Triangle 16 Blue, Academy 16 Crystal and NC Elite 16 Black who took our 16s team to 3 in each match with Virginia Elite staying undefeated day 2 and headed to gold!
After finding out they took over the 2nd seed in the tournament, our 16s team had earned the bye for the first round of gold and anxiously awaited the results of the contest between I.C. Stars and Lake Norman to find out their first opponent of the day. Virginia Elite faced off against a victorious I.C. Stars seeing our 16s come out swinging and winning in a decisive two sets to progress to the semi-final match against NC Academy 16 Diamond. In an exciting match, where two powerhouse teams traded barbs, our 16s team fell just short solidifying a 3rd place finish for the tournament!
