Fall Prep, Skills & Invite clinics
Virginia Elite is excited to offer Fall Prep Sessions, Skill Clinics, and Invite-Only Training Sessions designed to help athletes continue developing their skills, prepare for the upcoming club season, and train in a competitive environment with some of the best coaches in the region.
Whether you’re looking to sharpen specific skills, prepare for club tryouts, or take your training to the next level, we have an opportunity designed to help you reach your goals.
All fall training is built around our core philosophy of quality contacts, competitive environment and the challenge to develop. Athletes will receive focused instruction from experienced Virginia Elite coaches while improving technique, building confidence, and applying their skills in competitive situations.
Invitation Process
Our Competitive Fall Invite-Only Clinics are designed for athletes ready to train at a higher level in a competitive environment. New players must first attend a standard Skills Clinic or open Prep Session to be evaluated by our coaching staff. Based on the evaluation, athletes may receive an invitation to participate in our Invite-Only Clinics.
Already received an invitation? You may register directly for the Invite-Only Clinics.
Fall Prep Sessions
The VA Elite Fall Clinic Series is designed to help athletes continue developing their skills, gain valuable repetitions, and prepare for the upcoming club season. These single-day training sessions take place on Sundays, beginning the first Sunday after Labor Day and running through the weekend before the open tryout period begins.
Continuing the model established in 2016, our Fall Prep Sessions remain open to all athletes and are not invitation-based. We welcome players of all backgrounds who are motivated to improve, work hard, and train in a positive, competitive environment.
Fall Prep Sessions are offered in 90-minute and 2-hour training blocks and focus on skill development, quality repetitions, and preparing athletes for the demands of competitive volleyball.
Fall Skills Clinics
Our Skill Clinics provide athletes with focused, repetition-based training designed to improve specific volleyball skills. These clinics allow players to maximize their number of quality contacts while receiving individualized feedback from experienced coaches.
Unlike traditional 6-on-6 play, skill clinics prioritize intentional repetition and technical development, allowing athletes to break down skills, improve mechanics, and build confidence through focused training.
Skill Clinics may include:
- Passing & Defense
- Serving
- Setting
- Attacking
- Blocking
- Position-specific training
Each clinic is designed to help athletes make measurable improvements while continuing to develop the skills necessary for long-term success.
Fall Invite-Only Clinics
To attend the Competitive Fall Invite-Only Clinics, new players must first attend a standard Skills Clinic or open Prep Session to be formally evaluated by our coaching staff.
Path to an Invitation
- Because these high-intensity training sessions are reserved for advanced athletes, the club uses a specific pipeline for entry:
- Evaluation Requirement: New players cannot register for the invite-only sessions directly. You must sign up for an open Prep Session or Skills Clinic
- The Invitation: Coaches evaluate players during these open sessions. If a player demonstrates the necessary skill, work ethic, and competitive background, they will receive a direct invitation to join the elite-level training clinics.
Training Levels
To provide the best experience for every athlete, Virginia Fall Prep, Skills and Invite Clinics are designed with different training levels based on experience, skill development, and competitive background.
Beginner Level
Designed for athletes who are new to volleyball or are continuing to develop their foundational skills. These sessions are ideal for players with limited playing experience who are looking to learn proper techniques, build confidence, and develop a strong understanding of the game. Training will focus on fundamental skills including passing, serving, setting, hitting, and movement while providing a fun and supportive environment where athletes can grow their love for the sport.
Intermediate Level
Designed for athletes who have a solid foundation of fundamental volleyball skills and 2–4+ years of playing experience. These athletes typically compete on a school team and/or regional travel club team and are ready to continue developing in a faster-paced training environment. Players should be able to execute skills consistently while continuing to improve decision-making, game speed, and advanced techniques. Training will focus on skill refinement, high-repetition drills, and game-like situations to help athletes build confidence and prepare for the next level of competition.
Elite Level
Designed for experienced athletes competing at a high level of travel club volleyball, varsity high school volleyball, or collegiate volleyball. These players have a strong technical foundation, advanced volleyball IQ, and the ability to execute skills consistently at game speed. Advanced sessions provide a challenging, high-intensity environment focused on refining technique, increasing efficiency, and preparing athletes for the demands of elite competition. This level is ideal for rising juniors and seniors pursuing collegiate volleyball, current collegiate athletes, and players with significant high-level club experience.
