Mehdi Errebbaa (Big Mehdi)
16's Head Coach
Returning for his third season with Virginia Elite, Mehdi Errebbaa—known to many as “Big Mehdi”—brings a distinguished background as both a player and coach at the club, high school, collegiate, and international levels. Last season, he led Virginia Elite’s inaugural 12s team to the highest win percentage in the club, with top-10 finishes in every tournament except one—an impressive accomplishment for a first-year squad.
A native of Morocco, Errebbaa began playing volleyball at age 10 and went on to compete professionally overseas. As part of a championship team, he helped secure five Moroccan Championship titles, five Moroccan Cup victories, and two Moroccan Super Cup wins. He also represented Morocco as a member of the National Youth and Junior Teams.
Errebbaa brings more than 20 years of coaching experience across both international and domestic programs. While in the United Arab Emirates, he served as an assistant coach for two professional clubs—AL JAZEERA and BANIYAS Volleyball Clubs in Abu Dhabi. In the United States, he has contributed to nationally recognized programs including Momentum Volleyball Club in Chicago and OTVA in Orlando, both of which consistently rank among the top clubs in the country. Most recently, he served as a Head Coach with Evolution Volleyball Club in Alexandria and Virginia United.
After relocating to the Virginia area, Errebbaa continued to expand his coaching impact, serving as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Bishop O’Connell High School, Varsity Head Coach at Georgetown Visitation High School in Washington, D.C., and Assistant Coach at Division III Catholic University of America.
Errebbaa currently resides in Springfield, VA, and outside of volleyball, works as an Executive Pastry Chef with Root and Stem Catering.
