Julia Gleason
12's Assistant Coach
A proud alumna of Virginia Elite, Julia joins her first year with Virginia Elite as the 12s Assistant Coach. She previously played at Virginia Elite for five years, beginning with her 12s season and continuing through her 18s year. In addition to her playing career, she has coached summer clinics at Virginia Elite and has led summer, winter, and spring clinics at Christopher Newport University for the past five years.
As a player, she competed for Virginia Elite as both a Libero/Defensive Specialist and a Setter before continuing her career at Christopher Newport University. Over 15 years of playing experience, beginning at age 9, she earned numerous honors at Heritage High School, including: Most Valuable Player (Freshman & Sophomore years), Heritage Offensive Player of the Year (Senior year),Heritage Player of the Year (Senior year), Varsity Team Captain (Senior year), First Team All-District (Senior year), First Team All-Region (Senior year), 2019 Cheers Sports and LoCoSports All-LoCo Team Honorable Mention
At Christopher Newport, Julia appeared in 278 sets across 85 matches. She recorded a total of 356 digs, including 11 double-digit dig performances, and posted a career-best 208 digs during her senior year. She contributed 143 assists, highlighted by a career-high 30 and added 77 service aces and 13 kills throughout her career.
Julia earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Childhood Education from Christopher Newport University. A Northern Virginia native, she lives in Leesburg and serves as a Mental Health Technician at North Spring Behavioral Healthcare.
